Since writing “Campervan Song”, my rose tinted ode to our first VW Campervan, we had a couple more. After 6 years with “Alfred” our last 1969 Camper we fell out of love after a series of unfortunate events and expenses. Nothing lasts forever so this song wraps up that VeeDub chapter in our life. Maybe…
lyrics
He was a vee dub, type 2, ’69, aircooled
Bay window, old style purple camper van
He had a dashboard flower garland, psychedelic panel cover
Sunshine, hand painted cooker in the back
We had 6 years together, it seemed to take forever
Slowly, rolling, carrying the load
But time goes fast and something’s never last
So we came to the end of the road
End of the road, you gotta let the good times roll
End of the road and when it’s time you have to let go
Breakdown, tow truck, won’t start, no spark
Aircooled Workshop, trying to make him go
Another handbrake seized on, hot wheel disc burn
Electric wire, engine fire, he really had to go
Oooh you gotta let the good time’s roll
Oooh you gotta let the good time’s go
