Emulate the cosmic splendour with the silver teaspoon vender
Wonder at the Universe at play
Rockulate the roller coaster microwaving chicken roaster
Pay attention to the price you pay
Vacillating operators bite the hands of alligators
Feed the world it’s Christmas time today
Sixties art’s a baked bean tin while Hawkeye calls the last ball in
Seekers of asylum know the way
There’s nothing left for us to say
Fiction is the truth today
The vastness of the underworld is joking with the common cold
While sympathetic medics stand at bay
Complicated method actors and artificial benefactors
Keep their secrets hidden where they lay
Alice breaks her looking glass while Edward Lear sits on the grass
With a bushman of the Kalahari Sands
Bleaching all the coral reefs a mermaid through the darkness creeps
As oceans rise and wash away the lands
There’s nothing left for us to say
Fiction is the truth today
Casting out their deepest fear a crowd of people disappear
Under waves of government neglect
Insulating road protesters locking horns with big investors
What else would the newspapers expect
Copulating beetles thrive they don’t get much time till they die
Instinctively they know to seize the day
Captain Birdseye fishes for the fingers of a thousand score
Life was good but now it’s turning grey
There’s nothing left for us to say
Fiction is the truth today
There’s no time to hesitate
We’ll work it out when its too late

Seventeen
03:04
|
|||
I used to paint when I was seventeen
That’s how I’d spend my days
Ripping up the paper then I’d stick it back together
In autistic and artistic ways
Fat naked ladies would all sprawl across the tables
With disinterest they would blankly gaze
Lot’s of flesh to handle and sometimes they’d light a candle
To illuminate the smoky haze
Grab your chalk and charcoal for another art debacle
It was great but just a passing phase
I used to sing when I was seventeen
That’s how I’d waste my time
Black leather trousers lots of eye liner and blouses
In our five piece new romantic prime
Eyeing up the dancers while your weighing up your chances
Looking for some kind of positive sign
Jumping ‘cross the Juno when the fight breaks and you know
That you gotta keep the crowd in line
Grab the mic and swagger
Just another poor mans Jagger
It was great but it was just for awhile
I used to work when I was seventeen
I drove a Bedford van
Driving round you’d see me dropping off the odd delivery
In a Sussex south coast seaside town
I didn’t rush when they were paying the hour
I just did as much as I could stand
It was only temporary I had bigger dreams but then they
Offered me a permanent plan
But I went back to college to keep painting with the knowledge
I was great as a delivery man
I loved a girl when I was seventeen

Talent Is Timeless
03:14
|
|||
Create more worry less
Use your talent to impress
It doesn’t matter now just how long you’ve tried
Use your muse to confess
You’ve got so much to express
It doesn’t matter now it’s too late to hide
From north to south and east to west
You’ve sang your songs and done your best
You’ve been round the block I guess
But you’ve got something to share so remember that
Talent is timeless
Talent is timeless
Look around people stare
You’re so old you just don’t care
It doesn’t matter now forget your foolish pride
Stand up straight see what’s there
Share your stories everywhere
It doesn’t matter now don’t keep it all inside
From north to south and east to west
You’ve sang your songs and done your best
You’ve been round the block I guess
But you’ve got something to share so remember that
Talent is timeless
Talent is timeless

Woke Up This Morning
02:25
|
|||
There’s a light in the sky and it’s telling the time
And it’s time to get up and get on with the day
There’s a look in your eyes and it’s telling me why
Why I should tarry and not rush away
I woke up this morning
Well that’s what the blues say
I woke up this morning
And I knew in my heart I’d stay
There’s rain on the glass but the storm it has passed
And the day is so bright the sky is so blue
There’s a joy in your eyes as I wake up to find
I’m not in a dream I’m still here with you
I woke up this morning
Well that’s what the blues say
I woke up this morning
And I knew, well you know…
I woke up this morning
Well that’s what the blues say
I woke up this morning
And I knew in my heart I’d stay
There’s a light in the sky and it’s telling the time
And it’s time to get up and get on with the day
There’s a look in your eyes and it’s telling me why
Why I should tarry and not rush away
I woke up this morning
I woke up this morning

In The Diamond Rain
03:41
|
|||
In the diamond rain with the dancing fog inside your brain
And Nicky it’s such a twist again
Washed up on the morning’s plain
Just another coffee please and one more cigarette
Don’t hang around now all of your crowds have gone home
There’s just cosy Rose who’s blowing her nose all alone
In the diamond rain
In the diamond rain as you stand and you wait for the mainline train
And Nicky is it still the same old game
Remember the faces but none of their names
Just another coffee please and one more cigarette
Don’t hang around now all of your crowds have gone home
There’s just cosy Rose who’s blowing her nose all alone
In the diamond rain
In the diamond rain
And in the diamond rain your mind it is screaming in luminous flames
And Nicky ain’t it such a shame
When you find that the vultures have got you again
Just another coffee please and one more cigarette
But don’t hang around now all of your crowds have gone home
There’s just cosy Rose who’s blowing her nose all alone
In the diamond rain
In the diamond rain
In the diamond rain
In the diamond rain

Special Reservation
03:21
|
|||
In the time we’ve been apart
No one else has even reached my heart
Special reservation for no one else but you
And every day I treat the same
Keeping busy to forget the pain
But night time is different
That’s when I should be with you
So let’s put the past behind us
And if we try then love will find us
Don’t make it, don’t make it
Don’t make it all so final
We’re both now feeling low
Living from day to day
If you’re lonely well I’m only one telephone call away
So let’s put the past behind us
And if we try then love will find us
Don’t make it, don’t make it
Don’t make it all so final
Let’s put the past behind us
And if we try then love will find us
Don’t make it, don’t make it
Don’t make it all so final
In the time we’ve been apart
No one else has even reached my heart
Special reservation for no one else but you
And every day I treat the same
Keeping busy to forget this pain
But night time is different
That’s when I should be with you
So let’s put the past behind us
And if we try then love will find us
Don’t make it, don’t make it
Don’t make it all so final
We’re both now feeling low
Living from day to day
If you’re lonely well I’m only one telephone call away
So let’s put the past behind us
And if we try then love will find us
Don’t make it, don’t make it
Don’t make it all so final
Let’s put the past behind us
And if we try then love will find us
Don’t make it, don’t make it
Don’t make it all so final

From the rusted boats docked at the quay
You passed by the old abandoned warehouse factory
And after having walked so many hours
You crossed the river to the ruined castle towers
So wipe the city dirt from off your face
You’ve come a long way just to reach this place
So take a moment stay with me
Before you have to leave
The empty streets were quiet when you came
Climbing up cathedral hill you waited in the rain
And as the morning sun broke through the clouds
The whole place came alive and you were swept up in the crowds
So wipe the city dirt from off your face
You’ve come a long way just to reach this place
So take a moment stay with me
Before you have to leave
And looking back you carried on ahead
Escaping from the chaos to the castle grounds you fled
For awhile you wandered there alone
Weary of the journey and still very far from home
So wipe the city dirt from off your face
You’ve come a long way just to reach this place
So take a moment stay with me
Before you have to leave
The fun fair in the park was all shut down
It came to life each night as it passed on from town to town
You walked across the city all that day
Through the Christmas market back to where the river lay
Back among the quayside’s creaking boats
You swayed across the river bridge on its pontoon floats
Retracing your steps from whence you came
The graffiti on the empty factory wall remained the same
You left the busy city far behind
With your shadow growing long you reached the countryside
The sunset changed to silver evening light
Still searching for something you walked off into the night
So wipe the city dirt from off your face
You’ve come a long way just to reach this place
So take a moment stay with me
Before you have to leave
So wipe the city dirt from off your face
You’ve come a long way just to reach this place
So take a moment stay with me
Before you have to leave

She Is So Precious To Me
02:24
|
|||
She gave me something
The like of which I’d never known
She is so precious to me
She lights up the darkness
To guide me when I’m far from home
She is so precious to me
When it’s dark in the night
Everything’s out of sight
But I know that she’s there close to me
Feeling so right when she’s holding me tight
And there’s nowhere that I’d rather be
She is the one thing
I’ll never get over I know
She is so precious to me
When it’s dark in the night
Everything’s out of sight
But I know that she’s there close to me
Feeling so right when she’s holding me tight
And there’s nowhere that I’d rather be
She is the one thing
I’ll never get over I know
She is so precious to me
She is so precious to me

Don’t make it all about something
Don’t make it all about love
Don’t make it all about buying some land
When you don’t have a cloud up above
Don’t make it all about one thing
Don’t make it all about god
Don’t make it all about taking a stand
When you don’t have a line on the rod
You gotta get there on Sunday
You gotta make that call
You gotta get yourself closer to me
You gotta hang yourself on the wall
You gotta move me on Monday
You gotta roll with the fall
You gotta be about as good as can be
You gotta get a jump on them all
Don’t make it all about something
Don’t make it all about lust
Don’t make it all about planting the seed
When you don’t have a face you can trust
Don’t make it all about one thing
Don’t make it all about blood
Don’t make it all about shaking the tree
When you don’t have a stick in the mud
You gotta get there on Sunday
You gotta make that call
You gotta get yourself closer to me
You gotta hang yourself on the wall
You gotta move me on Monday
You gotta roll with the fall
You gotta be about as good as can be
You gotta get a jump on them all
Don’t make it all about something
Don’t make it all about love
Don’t make it all about buying some land
When you don’t have a cloud up above
Don’t make it all about one thing
Don’t make it all about god
Don’t make it all about taking a stand
When you don’t have a line on the rod
You gotta get there on Sunday
You gotta make that call
You gotta get yourself closer to me
You gotta hang yourself on the wall
You gotta move me on Monday
You gotta roll with the fall
You gotta be about as good as can be
You gotta get a jump on them all
You gotta get a jump on them all
You gotta get a jump on them all
